Our 2026 Season
Cinema Paradiso
This charming 1988 Italian coming‑of‑age drama garnered our largest audience to date.
Set in a small Sicilian village, it tells the story of Salvatore “Totò” Di Vita, who grows up utterly enchanted by the local movie theatre and its projectionist, Alfredo. Their bond becomes the emotional core of the film: a father‑son‑like relationship built on shared love for movies and the magic of storytelling.
If you missed it but think this might be something you want to watch you can view the trailer on our Youtube channel here.
Our 2025 Season
Lee
This compelling biographical drama that chronicles the extraordinary life of Lee Miller, was voted number one by our audience in a survey of our previous screenings.
Lee Miller was a fashion model who became a celebrated war correspondent during WWII. The film portrayed a powerful story of artistry, resilience, and challenging societal norms.
Our screening was enhanced by the presence of Lee's son Tony Penrose who kindly came along for a Q&A session after the movie.
The Outfit
This film about a skilled English tailor, who custom-makes suits for dangerous Chicago gangsters and finds himself caught in a deadly mob conflict came second in our poll of which of last years showings you liked best.
A stylish crime thriller that is a masterclass in tension and intricate plot twists, this was our most popular evening showing.
Hope And Glory
John Boorman's semi-autobiographical film depicts the London Blitz through the eyes of a young boy, finding adventure and excitement amidst the chaos of war. A poignant and often humorous look at resilience.
This film ranked at number three with our 2025 audience.
The Bishops Wife
For our Christmas Screening last year we decided to go for one of those seasonal movies that doesn't get shown very often on TV.
The Bishop's Wife is a charming festive classic where an angel, played by Cary Grant, comes to Earth to help a bishop struggling to raise funds for a new cathedral and reconnect with his wife. A heartwarming tale of faith, love, and community spirit our audience loved it, voting it number four of our 2025 screenings.
The Great Escaper
This was the movie with which we launched Interludes and drew our biggest audience.
Inspired by a true story, this heartwarming film stars Michael Caine as a WWII veteran who 'escapes' from his care home to attend the D-Day commemorations in France. A moving tale of dignity, remembrance, and the unwavering human spirit.
Thelma
The film from first-time writer-director Josh Margolin, pitches June Squibb as perhaps the least likely action hero: a nonagenarian of ordinary abilities who gets phone-scammed out of $10,000 and, inspired by Mission Impossible, embarks on a quest to retrieve it.
This quirky, humorous film was a definite hit with our audience.
The General
A timeless silent comedy classic starring and directed by Buster Keaton. Set during the American Civil War, it follows a locomotive engineer in a daring pursuit to recover his beloved train from Union spies. A breathtaking display of physical comedy and action.
Our screening was augmented with a live piano accompaniment by Mike Hatchard.
The Beat That My Heart Skipped
A gritty French drama about a young man torn between following his criminal father's path and pursuing his dream of becoming a concert pianist, inherited from his mother. A compelling exploration of destiny and passion.
This was the first of our evening screenings. A french language film with English subtitles.
